Within a week of the tryout, team rosters for selected 9u - 12u players will be posted to the BPALL website. Parents will be notified via email if their child made one of the BPALL District Tournament teams. If a player makes a District team, a parent/guardian will need to login to the BPALL website and either accept or decline the offer. When accepting an offer, if not already provided parents will be required to upload either (1) proof of residency (3 forms of documentation) OR (2) proof of school eligibility.
Little League Rule Change for 2023 - Implications
- Effective 2023, teams will now hit in a continuous batting order, and no longer have limitations tied to coaches and roster size (3 coaches allowed regardless of roster size). Each coach may choose a different roster size based on strategy. (ex: 10, 11, 12 players).
Selection Process & Commitment
What is taken into consideration to be selected for a District team?
Your child must be available and committed to attending all practices and games during the District season. Please include all known conflicts in the tryout form, including family vacations, weekend trips, sports/social events, camps, other baseball teams, etc. Player absences make it difficult for the team to be successful.
- Tryout performance
- Regular season play
- Positions played and areas of strength
- How your child will help the team win
- Ability to meet the schedule commitments
Please note: Evaluators will not have a child playing the the same division they are responsible to evaluate.
Players and parent/guardian must be flexible and prepared. Unforeseen situations or events may occur. Weather or poor field conditions, for example, may cause a game to be delayed, rescheduled, or canceled without notice.
Time Commitment
The time commitment will vary by age group.
- In general, the time commitment will start in mid-to-late May and will go as late as end of July.
- Teams may begin practice in mid-May and will practice two to three (or more) times per week in preparation for District games.
- Games begin in mid-June (this will vary by age) and run until mid-July.
- Teams may play two to three games per week during the District Tournament.
- District Tournaments last 2 – 3 calendar weeks, depending on scheduling and weather.
- Games may be played on holidays and weekends, excluding the 4th of July holiday.
- If a BPALL District Team wins the District 27 tournament, then the team will advance to the sectional tournament.
Volunteer Support
Berwyn Paoli Area Little League is a 100% volunteer supported organization. We need the help of parents/guardians in order to make the league successful. BPALL will host District games. Parents/guardians will be asked perform duties such as concession stand work, scoreboard operator, scorekeeper, PA announcer, GameChanger lead, field preparation, and post-game raking and maintenance and other functions necessary to support games.
District Team Fee
Each player will be responsible for a $135 fee to offset the expenses to participate on the District team. This fee covers district team registration fees, umpire fees for District games hosted by BPALL, field maintenance, game balls, and the cost of district team uniforms for the players and 3 volunteer coaches.
