Important Update Regarding Coronavirus (COVID-19)

Updated May 18:

Dear BPALL Community,

This is an update about the Berwyn Paoli Area Little League spring season, using the facilities at Field of Dreams, and an upcoming food drive.

BPALL continues to follow the Little League International recommendation that leagues follow their state and local guidelines. BPALL leadership has been meeting weekly to explore how to provide safe and fun options for registered families. I am pleased to share the following updates.

Facilities

We will begin to slowly reopen the Field of Dream facilities to families who are registered members of BPALL.

A trial process will begin on Saturday, May 23. Online reservations for the use of specific areas of the complex will be required. SignUpGenius will be used to manage reservations. We are hopeful the trial process will go well and allow for more of the facility to open in the coming weeks.

  • FOD and Radbill Facilities
  • Outdoor batting cages and bullpen areas will be available for use by members of the same household. Participants will be required to follow CDC, State, and Local guidelines related to social distancing.
  • Available hours will be 9 AM – 6 PM daily
  • Please be considerate of others and book no more than one time slot per day and stagger the times you select to allow others to take advantage of early evening and weekend slots.
  • SignUpGenius links are below and will begin accepting reservations on Wednesday, May 20.
  • No organized groups or teams are allowed to practice, use the cages or mounds;
  • Escort your children to the facility
  • BPALL fields remain closed at this time; the league is hoping to open the fields for use by members in the coming weeks.

Spring 2020 Season – NOW planned for mid-July through October

District 27 leaders met earlier this month to discuss options to safely practice and play, even if for an abbreviated schedule. This is, of course, contingent upon state and local officials. The District is planning for a Summer/Fall league with modified rules to support safety. The following schedule has been proposed:

  • Practice: Mid-July start (earlier if allowed by state)
  • Games: Starting after 2 weeks of practice and will run through September
  • Playoffs: Late September / Early October

The league is working on options to safely host modified versions of opening day, picture day and many of the other long-standing annual traditions.

BPALL recognizes many children play fall sports. The league plans to work with parents and the fall leagues to identify schedule options that allow for participation across various sports. For those who will not be able to participate in games this summer, information will be forthcoming in the next 1 – 2 weeks.

Updated April 5:

Dear BPALL Community,

This is an update about the Berwyn Paoli Area Little League spring season as it pertains to the current situation with the Coronavirus (COVID-19).

First off, we hope that everyone in the BPALL community is safe and healthy during this very challenging (and unprecedented) time.

At this time, BPALL is following the Little League International recommendation that leagues temporarily suspend all league activities until at least May 11.  All BPALL fields will remain closed until that time. We will continue to monitor the situation and continue to follow the advice of local/state/federal officials, Little League International, etc.

We are not canceling the entire spring season yet as we remain hopeful that we will be able to resume activities on or shortly after May 11. We are looking at ways to salvage part of the season and/or extend the season into later June or July. This is, of course, contingent upon local and state officials advising that it is safe to resume activities. If we are unable to salvage any part of the season, information about the refund or credit process will be sent to all of the families who signed up for the spring season.

If you have any questions, please feel free to email [email protected].

Thank you for your patience, flexibility, and understanding, and please stay safe as we get through this challenging time.

Sincerely,

John Morgan
President
Berwyn Paoli Area Little League
