Baseball District Team Tryouts

Tryouts for the District tournament teams will be held Friday May 9. The rain date will be Tuesday May 13. Please direct questions about the District Tryouts to [email protected].

Please read all the information below BEFORE registering for the tryouts.
Eligibility: Must be a resident within BPALL boundary or be enrolled in school within BPALL boundary. Maintain armature status. Have participated in a minimum 8 regular season BPALL games during the spring 2025 regular season.

When are tryouts?

- 10U (Last Names A - L) 7:00 PM
- 10U (Last Names M - Z) 7:30 PM
- 11U 8:00 PM
- 12U 8:30 PM
NOTE: Please arrive 10 minutes BEFORE your slot to sign-in and warm up.
*Important: Please wear indoor-appropriate athletic footwear (No cleats).
When are teams announced?
Players will be notified of offers to join the team by May 18, 2025.
How many teams will BPALL have?
- Ideally, both 9-10 and 11-12u will have “A” and additional ‘B’ teams entered, depending on interest and skill level in the age groups.
- Each team will have 3 coaches; each coach must have participated as a registered coach during the 2024 spring season.
- Effective in 2023, teams will now hit in a continuous batting order, and will no longer have limitations tied to roster size. Each coach may choose a different roster size based on strategy (10,11,12 players).
When is the District season and what must players commit to?
- Your player must be available and committed to attending all games and practices during the District season. Please list ALL conflicts on the registration form.
- Practices will start during the regular season (can officially commence May 18th, after teams announced), and will extend until the District Team is still in the tournament. After regular season playoffs are complete, expect daily practices (up to individual coaches), participation in the NELL Team A tournament (June 13-21), with tournament games starting approximately June 13, and potentially running well into July (play until eliminated). Games may take place during the July 4th holiday weekend. Teams could play 2 games minimum in the District tournament, and a 3 game minimum in the NELL tournament.
How are players selected?
- It is the discretion of the coach how availability impacts selection.
- Tryouts will be a pro-style session and will include running, throwing, batting, and fielding assessments.
- Additional factors considered pas part of the selection process:
- Tryout performance
- Evaluators during tryouts will never have a child playing in the division being evaluated.
- In-season performance
- Positions and areas of strength
- How will your player help the team win?
How much does it cost to play on the District teams?
The fee to play on the district team is $165. This fee covers district team registration fees, NELL Tournament registration fees, umpire fees for District games hosted by BPALL, field maintenance, and the cost of district team uniforms (shirt and hat) for the players and 3 volunteer coaches.
